Thumbs Up--Table Tray Makeover Part 1

Well, my friends, this is the sign I got from my husband this weekend!  Yep, I got the big thumbs up for free reign to redo/upgrade/repurpose any and every piece of furniture we have in our home.  The best part is, I didn't ask or even mention it to him--he simply said I could do whatever I want.

This may not be a huge deal for most of you, but you should understand a couple of things about our situation.  1. We're newlyweds, 2.  Most of the furniture I owned before we got married is in storage while we're in our current home for another few months 3.  Everything my husband owned prior to us getting married is what he's referring to as "free reign"--all of it!  As soon as he said that, I had images of redoing our bedroom furniture.  Unfortunately, my workspace is a bit limited right now so I may have to wait until we move into a bigger space to work on those pieces.  But for now, I have plenty of smaller pieces of furniture beckoning me!!

First up, are some table trays.  The table trays actually belonged to me before we got married.  When I was a brand new Army Officer, a good friend of mine was no longer in need of them, so I willingly took them off of her hands.  I've been wanting to do something with these trays for a very long time, but I haven't had the courage or any ideas, really.  But the thumbs up from my husband also gave me a little more confidence--he trusts my taste!

So here are some inspiration pieces for the table tray makeovers:

I think these are so classy looking.  I love how each one is unique.  This would take some time but it would make for a fun project.

This one also looks like it would be a lot of fun.  Maybe I could do something to represent different places we've traveled.

This style's nice too.  It's pretty simple, but I think it would fit perfectly with the theme that's inspired me for our living room--more to follow on that topic :).

I'm interested--what do you think??

  6. Ok....so I have been wanting tabletrays for a loooong time now. How sweet are those examples above? Personally, I like the idea of putting a picture or some kind of memory of the places you've been together. What a neat keepsake :)

So nice to have you stop by my blog! (that sounds so formal, doesn't it?) Have a good day!

  8. Nice!! It's funny - when we first got married, my husband was opinionated. As time went on, he waved the white flag and let me have free reign with the decorating. For your tables, oh, I don't know! They're all great. I like the top ones best I think.

  12. Did you primer them first? And did you spray paint them? They turned out so great. I will have to try this soon.
