It's A New Year...What's New With You?

2012, are you really here??  I just had a flashback to middle school while I was looking at a very long range calendar with friends and we marveled at how weird it would be when the year 2000 came.  And now here we are, 12 years after that strange transition into the 2000s.  Can you believe that?  I really can't believe it.  Am I really an adult now??

Alright, enough of my nostalgia.  The cool thing about new years is that it's an opportunity to start anew if you so choose.  Fresh beginnings, new goals, and bright perspectives!!  Oh, the possibilities!

My blog friend, Denise at Count it *all* JOY, left a message on my last post that she doesn't make resolutions, she sets goals.  Denise, we're the same way!  I think there's a difference between the two.  My husband and I are both very goal oriented people, and as we made an 8 hour drive back home last night, we discussed and recorded our goals in 5 different areas:  spiritual, financial, work, health/fitness, & miscellaneous.  It was a lot of fun hearing his goals and bouncing my ideas off of him.  I'm really excited for this new year and to see/experience all God has in store for us individually and as husband and wife!

I thought for today I would share some quotes about new beginnings with you all to help encourage inspiration for 2012.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
2 Corinthians 5:17

"Do not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin.  Beginning makes the conditions perfect."
Alan Cohen

"Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently."
Henry Ford

"People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success."
Norman Vincent Peale

"So many fail because they don't get started - they don't go.  They don't overcome inertia. They don't begin."
W. Clement Stone

What are you most looking forward to this year?

Also, for our first Christmas married, we spent a week in Japan visiting my family and  time in "Amish Country" Lancaster, PA visiting my husband's family (talk about extremes, right?).  Stay tuned for pictures & responses to all of your messages!

  1. I love all these quotes, but goodness the second one really resonates with me, sometimes change seems like a really large mountain too hard to climb!!! But just beginning is better than doing nothing!!! Love it!!! Thanks for the motivation!!! Happy New Year!
