"When you look at a cupcake, you've got to smile."

For those of you who've been following along for a little while, you know how much I love cupcakes and how much I completely agree with the quote posted above. Oh, I smile a lot when I look at a cupcake.
A couple of weeks ago, I was just thinking about how I hadn't yet shared what kind of cake I made for our Happy Birthday Jesus celebration over Christmas. If you don't remember that post, that's alright, you can read it here.
Well, I decided to make a giant cupcake surrounded by regular-sized cupcakes. My good friend read my blog post and asked if I wanted to borrow her giant cupcake pan, so I did. I packed it up and it traveled across the world with me and Scott to Japan!
While mine didn't look quite as fabulous as my inspiration pieces, I think it tasted great; at least all those who partook were happy!
Okay, now to share some masterpieces from my sisters! Man, I have a lot to learn about how to decorate a cupcake. Check out what they've done:
My oldest sister made these cupcakes for her goddaughter's 1st birthday! Aren't they adorable?
Unfortunately, Allison's allergic to chocolate so she didn't even get to partake in her own creation, but others said they were delicious--they look delicious! Tomorrow her twin daughters turn 1 and she'll be making cupcakes for their party. I can't wait to see what she does!
My other sister, Lauren, made these just for her husband's birthday.
I couldn't believe my eyes when she sent me these pictures! I really need to catch up on this cupcake decorating thing--these cupcakes look professional! Maybe someday, my cupcakes will look as professional as my sisters'...someday!
A couple of weeks ago, my friend Andrea had a "Cupcakes and Champagne" party for ladies only. What a great idea! We all had such a good night. Andrea actually bought these cupcakes from a family-owned and operated business in her town that specializes in cakes and cupcakes. The cool part about these cupcakes is that a majority of the proceeds from the purchase went toward a young boy's cancer treatment payments. I was practically in tears when I learned that. It came out in discussion later that night that the young boy just found out he no longer has cancer--God is certainly good!
Like Anne Byrn, cupcakes really make me smile--especially these cupcakes.
Do you like cupcakes? What's your favorite kind??
