An Edit

"For myself I hold no preferences among flowers, so long as they are
wild, free, spontaneous..."
-Edward Abbey-

It's a beautiful day in North Carolina!  What's the weather looking like where you are?  If it's chilly, this picture may help you remember some warmer days.  This week's Edit Me Challenge photo comes from Kim at Mom Tried It

Here's Kim's beautiful picture before the edit:

Here's a look at my edit:

I had a lot of fun with this edit and decided to try some new techniques.

Here's what I did:

  • I cropped the photo so the flower would be the main focus of the picture.
  • I wanted to make the flower standout and even glow a little so I increased the blacks to darken the background.
  • I increased the exposure and brightness on one side of the picture and it almost makes the flower look florescent.  On the other side, I wanted to keep the natural look of the flower--small imperfections and all so I decreased the exposure a little and kept the brightness the same, but I increased the clarity.
  • I warmed up the colors a bit by increasing the temp & vibrance.

What do you think?  What would you do?

  1. Oh I love this! :) the depth of the background is so great! Love the deep dark colors!

  2. That looks REALLY great! Luv it. :D
