Get Moving--For Clarity's Sake

Have you ever had one of those "A-HA!" moments??  If so, what were you doing when you had it?  Is that a weird question to ask?  The reason I ask is because I seem to have clarifying thoughts when I'm doing something.  Whether I'm going for a walk, driving to the store, cooking dinner, or giving my son a bath, I'm doing something.  My latest A-HA moment came while I was washing dishes.  Yes, my most dreaded chore paid off.

This may or may not come as a surprise to you, but I very rarely have clarifying thoughts or ideas when I'm sitting on the couch watching TV.  Actually, I don't know if I have any thoughts while watching TV--hah!  I may be the only one, but I find that TV has a debilitating affect on my brain.  Not only does it hold my mind hostage, but my body often follows suit as I slowly lose motivation to get up and do anything.

Over the past 9 months, I've limited my TV watching to (at most) 1 hour a day; I can sometimes go days without even thinking twice about it or without missing it at all.  I'm amazed at how much more I am able to accomplish each day--and how much more I think about each day.  Once I got up off the couch and started doing life instead of watching "life" on the TV screen, thoughts and ideas started flowing and my notepads and notebooks started filling up.  So refreshing!

I want to challenge you to limit the amount of TV you're watching or time you're spending on the computer.  Get up and do something instead.  Do it for a week and see what happens!  Let me know if you're up for the challenge & then share your experience of the week-long challenge in the comments below.  It's 7 days.  You can do anything for 7 days, right?  I can't wait to hear all about it!
